Why does my monitor screen turn black/flicker randomly? (Other related questions as well)

I just bought a ASUS VG248QE and it's connected to my computer through a Displayport 1.2 cable. Randomly it goes black for 1-2 seconds or it flickers white for a millisecond.

I have two monitors connected, the ASUS VG248QE and a ASUS VS238P-H (which is connected through HDMI). The ASUS VS238H-P doesn't have any problems at all and my station is dust free, ports are clean, connections are clean.

The ASUS VG248QE is new and is using 144hz settings. What could be the issue? Could the HDMI wire be interfering somehow (Ports are close)? Should I daisy chain the VS238H-P with my VG248QE (through HDMI) and have the VG248QE connect through Displayport and still maintain 144hz through it?

Side questions:
I tried using Eyefinity, but it disabled my ASUS VG248QE and acted like there was no signal through my Displayport...if it did work, it only was in 640x480 resolution. Took forever to undo and I fear its not completely undone (doesn't list ASUS VG248QE as ASUS VG248QE, rather just says VG248QE now). Why?

Plus, yesterday I cleaned everything again and when I replugged my monitors, each seemed delayed (like lower FPS, but FPS was showing its fullest). Is that a GPU issue (I use a AMD Radeon HD 7970M)?

Hmm. I just bought the cable new off Amazon. I'll likely have to contact the seller, yes. Curious to know if it can be anything else.

Does this happen when there is nothing on the screen (i.e. when there is a black loading screen in a video game)? If so, it could be because the monitor has power save mode and automatically turns off if nothing is detected on the screen.

The VS238H-P dims when there is (expected)...the VG248QE doesn't (don't expect it). The VG248QE just turns off/flickers randomly no matter what I'm doing.

Its your overclock. if you leave your card overclocked, ALL of your digital signals will flicker. Mine does the same, turn off the overclock in CCC, the throttling the card does in the bios for voltages and clocks causes this

also, flash will cause flickering too

i have a 6870 (5870 cypress rebadge)

try using ONLY your VGA signal - unplug the DVI - bet it stops EVEN WITH your overclocks - something about SOME radeon cards VGA + DVI - im running 3 monitors off one card, an active VGA on display port - a HDMI > DVI converter > and my DVI signal, both my HDMI and DVI will flicker, my DP to VGA will not, because its being picked up as an analog signal

. the problem is with you gfx card you need a new one. I had this problem 3 months ago and it only gets worse with time.
