Should I use a Microsoft account instead of a local account?

I don't really deal with the app store but it sounds like Windows 8.1 will be an app store item. I would also like for my system settings to be synced as I have been switching hard drives a lot lately.

Is there any reason that I shouldn't use a Microsoft account?

It works even if you're not on the internet. I would suggest you're connect during the install though. This way it can sync with your mail, contacts, calendar, and skydrive right away.

There's no reason not to, but I set up a local account and a Microsoft account.

I think it's good to have a local account in case someone were to hack your microsoft account and change your password. That way, you'd still be able to login to the PC until you got things straightened out.
