rift is superior to multiple monitors, especially if the game supports head tracking for the character view which also reduces the graphics performance overhead require as you essentially only need the processing power for two 1080p views instead of 3 for full surround viewing.

only downside with the rift is with the immersion your blind to everything else but the game.
