Need help with my 6 years old LCD monitor. After a long period of shutdown, when I press the power button, the screen stays black for like 30 seconds while the power button led blinks and the monitor makes sounds of being turned on repetitively. After like 30 seconds, the power button led stays on and the monitor stops making that sound, and it shows an amorphous white image. Seconds later, the screen shows what my video card is sending, but it is blurry, shaky and the colors are washed out. There is a bulged capacitor on the monitor power board.

YouTube video showing my screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RYxO4JurI8 .

I have another monitor and it works fine.

Your monitor has probably just reached the end of its life. If that's the case there isn't much that can be done.

If the problem is the bulged capacitor, then I think I can fix it. I want to hear what others think.
