What's your budget? Any newer processor should be good. I'm using an i5-2500k OC'd to 4.0, but any new AMD processor should work well, too. BF3 likes more than two cores.

right. Your CPU will be maxed out and won't be able to process data as fast as the GPU.

FX.6000 series on AMD boards would be best, but the 4000s do okay so long as you're not playing Starcraft or Civ V at max. The Athlon 750, I believe, was what Tom's called the bottom for AMD gaming across all games.
