Hi guys, this is my first post here and i have a problem, I have 2000hz ram and am trying to run it at 1866MHz because if i run it at 2000MHz it crashes. When i have it on 1866MHz my cpu temperatures at abut 60C idle, and in the 80's-90's on load. As of now, i have my 1066MHz ram in and its still running hot browsing the web 47C. Idk what the problem would be someone help please.

Specs:
i7-930
V8 Coolermaster cpu fan
Kingston 2000MHz 3/6g CAS 9 KHX2000C9AD3T1K3/6GX 1.65V
MSI XPower Big Bang Socket 1336
CMStorm Scout Case

WIth most new mb make sure your using ram xmp profile in the bios and not uing mb over clocking feature. You may be changing the CPU voltage core and timing without knowing it.
First of all, I recommend you update your motherboard BIOS if an update exists. Sometimes new memory profiles will be included. It's probably a timing issue, not a frequency issue.

You show a huge jump in temperature due to the added RAM and that really surprised me. I find it almost impossible (47degC to 60degC ?).

To test properly you would have to:
1) Run with slow memory for five minutes in idle. Record highest CPU core temp.
2) Repeat with faster memory.
3) Repeat with slower memory again (because things are heating up).

Also, i dont know if i should use the stock cooler to see if its a heatsink problem because ive never used the intel heatsink and still has its original thermal paste, im planning on getting some artic silver 5 in a few days.

To clarify, are you using DEFAULT CPU settings or overclocking?

I would advise you to:

1) Reinstall the heatsink properly (make sure you have enough paste and apply just enough to spread. Not too thick.)

2) Ensure you are at default settings for both CPU and RAM

I'm not saying you have your heatsink installed improperly though. Temperature can vary a lot (room temp, CPU fans etc).

Ok, so i found the problem i believe, my V8's fan is giving out so i bought a new one and its on its way. My fan would be min of 600rpm and max 1200 and it should have been 800-1600rpm. After that i will be getting some Arctic Silver 5 in the coming weeks.
