Assassin's Creed 3 frequently crashes and exits the program or blue screen. Why?

I have a Radeon 7970, i5-3570k, 16GB DDR3 1600, Corsair 600W, Samsung 840 250GB, and plenty of fans. Any idea why it might be crashing? It says my drivers are up to date. Is it worth uninstalling and redownloading the graphics card driver? AC3 crashes almost every 10 to 30 minutes and it drives me crazy. I didn't have this problem when playing AC1, 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations on the same setup.

What Res/FPS do you get when it does work? laggy or smooth?

Before you do anything, replay with those awnsers.
Next step is to reinstall windows, if you dont have a retail DvD, or a sticker on your pc with a key, get Windows 8.1 pro preview 64 bit. format. install. install games, game clients (steam, origin, uplay, whatever) install intel drivers and AMD catalyst beta 13.xx . Try playing then, but do not install anything but latest beta/stable drivers from manufactures websites.

Framerate ranges from upper 30s-upper 50s with everything maxed out at 1920x1080 60Hz.

I didn't reinstall Windows yet, but did install Catalyst 13. Still had a lot of freezing and blue screens with AC3, but I tried another recent game (Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon), and haven't had any issues with that thus far, but I only played for about an hour.

Before you begin, make sure you have game save + game backups, weather you can re download them or have discs. Make a copy off all files you want to save.

Insert you windows install disk, format the drive.

Format it once more.

Remove all partitions, Install windows.

Install Google Chrome

Download Catalyst 13

Download all intel Drivers, install.

Download speccy from priform and check your temps.

install game client, games.

Play. Test. Benchmark.
