Agreed with rolli59. Reduce CPU multiplier and you can reduce cpu voltages to reduce heat/power consumption.
I am undervolting by 0.090V, with no issues in either Intel Burn Test or prime95. I am planning on moving the i5-3570k to a different rig (HTPC), and am hoping to turn down the frequency to conserve power / reduce heat.
I did run Intel Burn Test with 4 cores / 4 threads at 1.6 GHz (set in ASUS AI tool), and the power barely broke above 40W, and max temps hovered in lower 40C range. As mentioned in my previous response, I am hoping to set 1.6 GHz in the UEFI BIOS.
CORRECTION - At these settings, max power was 28.5W, and max temp was 48C. FWIW, this is in a stock SUGO SG05 case that is relatively cramped w/ EVGA GTX 670 FTW Sig 2, SSD, 3.5" HDD, slim DVD drive, and Thermalright AXP-100 cooler. My HTPC will be in a different case; I wanted to test the i5 watt / temp limits in this setup before moving it.
Thanks for your prompt reply.
