Hi all,

I am looking to build two computers. I will not need a OS for these machines.

First one I am looking at is just a replacement for my wife. It will be used for browsing the internet and streaming videos such as Netflix and whatnot. I still have a spare SSD i could put in there from my last build, so i could possibly leave that off. Looking for a relatively cheap build here.

Second build I am looking at is one that I will hook up to my projector system.. If possible, I would like the tower to be as small as possible to fit in a book shelf I house the entertainment systems. It would be used for streaming videos and internet browsing as well as some light gaming.

Light gaming for me would be lower graphic quality games such as path of exile, LoL, WoW.. Nothing like the next gen shooters and very graphic intensive games.

Would like to keep both build as cheap as possible.

More about : build systems internet light gaming

I'd look at last SBM cycle's "$400 Spirit of Mini-ITX" build for both of these systems. I would change the case/PSU to this though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... to get more standard sizing. I have one. The fans are audible but quiet. The PSU has three SATA power connectors, not just two. I put a 2.5" SSD and a 2.5" Hybrid HDD into a 3.5" bracket, and that leaves yet another 3.5" space available. Get something like an i3-3225 for your wife, and have her use the HD4000 IGP; for games you will probably want to add the low profile HD7750 with whatever CPU you need, possibly the same one.

Thanks for the information and the links! I will definitely take a look at that build.

I definitely agree with looking at the THG "Spirit of mITX rig". But as far as recommending systems goes that entirely depends on how much you want to spend. I'd say put that SSD in the gaming rig rather than the internet use one since you will get more use of it that way.
