Will it be able to Crossfire and increase the performance? If so by how much?

No, since the amd radeon 7990 features the malta gpu model, while the 7970 uses the Tahiti XT gpu. So it would not match and you would not be able to crossfire them as a result.

Incorrect. The codename for the card is Malta. It uses 2 Tahiti XT cores just like the 7970. There are also plenty of examples of them together in tri-fire. So the answer is yes. And here is a reference. (http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/news/radeon-hd-7990-...) and the full review (http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/5414/amd-radeon-hd-79...)
