New GPU won't post

Just replaced my HD 5770 with a HIS HD 7850 but computer won't post. The new card works with other systems but not with my Asus Sabertooth 990fx board. The Sabertooth board I have is the Rev.1.01 version. Any tips to solve the problem would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe try a different slot? Also, when you boot the computer is there anything going through the motherboard graphics?

i tried different slots yes, and when it boots its just a blank screen.

MB is Asus Sabertooth 990fx rev.1.01 and PSU is a Raidmax 730w. I was thinking of upgrading the bios, just not sure how yet, but could this really be the problem?

I've tested the older HD 5770 and a HD 6850 GPU and they both work fine on my board. And also the new 7850 GPU works fine in another system that has an msi MOBO.

RAIDMAX RX-730SS has over 2k reviews on newegg and is a great gpu, you really think a card would not be compatible with that psu?

That PSU doesn't deliver a stable 12V so you have system instability

k. ill give it a try but the only spare psu i have on hand is a 430w apevia and a 500w cooler master hopefully those aren't too underpowered.

Its not the worst PSU in the world. I mean, just because its not high praised doesnt mean that it doesnt do what a PSU does.

The 500W Cooler Master I know of is even worse.

Most likely BIOS issue since the card is PCIe ver 3.0 and the older cards that work are PCIe ver 2.1.

PCI-E is backwards combatible tho

Also yeah it isn't that bad of a PSU but it isn't good either so it's likely to cause issues sooner or later

Just bought a corsair cx600 from newegg. Its 600watt for $40 after discounts and rebates, hope this works, too lazy to disconnect PSUs from other systems.

I'm thinking it might be psu since the phenom 965be is overclocked to 3.8ghz and also the ram is overclocked as well.

ok so i just put in the new psu but now i have a boot error. It says to reboot with proper boot device, so I go to bios and try to change the boot sequence to boot from HDD but seems bios does not detect my HDD now. I only see 2 options which is boot manager and my dvd rom. I've already double checked the connectors and even swaped different ones. Any suggestions?

The bios does not even show my HDD as a boot option. Weird. I'm gonna connect my HDD to another system to see if it works.

BIOS reset? Maybe Sata controller changed from ACHI mode to IDE.

I put everything back to default. And sata is at ACHI mode not IDE. This damn UEFI bios is a bit confusing to me. I may have to try hooking up another HDD.
