Hey guys,

So I thought I would post up here to try get some help with my dad's PC.

It has been randomly been freezing the screen turning itself off. This can happen either very frequently or sometimes every few days.

We have replaced the power supply with a GX650W, I have tested his RAM using memtest86, I put my graphics card in and the computer was still freezing.

Running out of ideas.

I was previously getting the following error in the event logs every few minutes.
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2.

After checking what was plugged into the mother board on port 1-2
It was the CD drive so I have since unplugged this and the error has stopped

Hi,

Boot in safe mode and run adwcleaner, rogue killer and malwarebytes to rule out malware.

Monitor you cpu with coretemp (dust off the cpu fan if their is any)
Monitor your mobo temps with speccy. Also look for deformed capacitor on the motherboard.

You can also download hard disk sentinel trial to look at the hard drive health.

Hey guys so I'm still having some real trouble with this one. I replace the hardware because I was getting errors when using a few different hard drive diagnostic program's.

Another scan of the new hard drive shows its perfectly fine. I have checked and scanned for malware (none found)

I have also ran a PC benchmarking tool and the temps of the CPU and graphics card were very stable.

What seems to be happening is program's freezing, computer didn't shut down yesterday, monitors keeps powering off
