GTX 760 SLI POST Problem

Ok so I'm building a new rig and I want to SLI 2 EVGA GTX 760 cards in it. I have an 850W PSU putting out 70A on the 12V rail and an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 MB. When I install either GPU in the first PCI-e slot by itself, no problems, so I know the problem isn't with the either card, the RAM, etc. But when I try and SLI the 2 cards in the 1st and 3rd PCI-e slots (as recommended for 2x16 performance), I get an 8 short beep code and the system will not POST; apparently that means that there is a "Display memory Read/Write test failure." Any ideas on how to fix this?

try both card in slot 3 one at a time with nothing in any other slot. could be a bad slot.

I just tried each of them in slot 3. Singly they POST and boot fine from that one too.
