i have a pathetic isp with a speed of 1mbps or less, i have an ipad and was thinking to get a wireless router please suggest me one, advice me on the speeds i can get on my ipad and whether its worth the pain or not????

A router will not help with the 1Mbps speed. That is what you get when communicating with the outside world. If you want more, you have to get a different service plan from your ISP.

A router WILL help with communications with your other devices. And it would allow multiple devices.
