I will start off saying hello, I am new here, but I've been coming here for YEARS using solutions here to fix computers for family, friends etc.. etc. I will say, I am rather a impatient person by nature, so if I seem in a hurry to you, that is why, lol. Name is Steve from the U.S., I'm a graphics designer by trade. Anything yuo wanna know please by all means ask.

My problem is,

I purchased a 1 year old awesome hardware wise PC from a friend. BUT, their is tons wrong with it software wise. .framework or what ever is messed royally, can not install any drivers for nvidia card (And i have tried EVERY solution on these forums & Nvidia forums & Windows Seven forums) nothing has worked at all. I've been to a total of about 31 different forums & have tried everything, nothing works.

So my question is, can I download Windows 7 & use it to re-install Windows 7 on this PC using the Product key it came with ? Cause the person I bought the PC off, does not have the disc, she said it didn't come with one. She bought it online from Tiger Direct. I have contacted them & the original owner contacted them & they won't release a Disc to her nor me. She even showed proof of purchase but they still denied it cause it has been about 3 weeks over a year from time of purchase. The PC hardware wise is absolutely epic, superb. But software wise it is messed. I cleaned all viruses & mal/adware off it.

Any ideas/help is so very appreciated.

**EDIT**
I must also add, there have been no hardware changes at all, it is the very same pc, just need to re-install windows 7. Person who owned it before me, deleted the back up partition of the computer accidentally. So I can't restore it or reset it to back to factory settings. So it is a must I get a copy of Windows 7 to re-install.

Yes download a disk image of the same version you have from HERE and either burn to a DVD or make a bootable USB installer with THIS tool.

As long as you have the laptop and the motherboard is the same and the laptop has the OEM sticker with the key on it, you are the legitimate owner and it is within the licensed rights. HERE is a link to the detailed OEM Windows 7 license information.

It sounds like you really do need a clean install. I would backup all my data, boot from the install disk and unpartition all existing partitions and then install to the single remaining unpartitioned space.

Use your existing key to activate.

Personally I would get a hard drive as you'd need some where to back up the stuff you have on it now, and buy a copy of windows 7. This is so you are for sure 100% right in it being a legal copy.

There is too much of a back ground story to this girl. It is starting to smell like bad fish.

Get a good copy, get it re-installed and get er done!

I should also add, it is a Desktop. Not sure if that matters much, I'm sure it might. Is their a download link to a desktop version of Windows 7 ? Or does it matter ?

Man, I really apologize for being such a pain in the arse. And I really appreciate your help.

But, my sticker on the PC says this, I'll type it exactly

Windows 7 Home Premium OASI

Then below it -- it has the Product # & other numbers etc.. etc...

Is the OASI something I need to be concerned about ? Like a special version or something ? Or can I just dismiss it ?

And again I apologize for all the questions & what not.

Nah, no special version -- just ignore it and install the Home Premium x64 image.

If you have any issue with an Internet activation, just use the phone activation -- I've done it on many occasions and never got hassled at all. I have actually found the MS activation people very willing to assist, although 90% of the time the Internet activation works for me.
