Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

Hi all.
I apologise if this topic is something very simple due to my lack of experience but I have just built my second PC today and as the title suggests I have received this message upon boot. Sometimes I'll see the Gigabyte boot screen for a split second then it will display " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" and other times it will go straight to the message. I have tried 2 different cables and 2 different hard drives. I'm stumped.

Specs:
i7-3770k
Gigabyte G1
WD Black 1TB
Corsair AX860
GSkill Ripjaws Z Series 1600 CL 9.0

set up boot sequence in BIOS.......your HD first boot device/the dvd-rom second/disable 3rd if not using a floppy or a secaondary drive. ........ read booklet that came with motherboard.

Welcome to Tom's!
You need to go into your BIOS setup, and make sure that it is trying to boot from the proper HDD partition. Read in your manual how to set these options in the BIOS.

Hi swifty, I can't even get that far. From pressing the power button on the MB I will hear 1 "beep" from the speaker and then up comes that message. Can't even press delete to go into bios settings.

with machine off/reset cmos. try reboot.

another thing to do would be to check all connections////////// from power supply to motherboard and all others. sometimes cables/wires look like they are tight but really aren't making proper connection.

So after a quick tear down and rebuild it was doing the same so, I flicked the sw4 switch on the mb to swap from the main bios to the backup and it has worked. I have managed to install windows and all seems to be working. So what what happens with the main bios since Im guessing its corrupted to some extent?

I never ran across this problem before.

I would contact gigabyte to see what they had to say............. but i would make plans on an RMA before the 30 days ran out.

I just seen you last solution and tried that. Switched off and swapped back to the main bios and cleared the cmos and booted it and its working perfectly now. Much appreciated swifty!

I really think a lot of you to take time to help me a man on the phine said he could help me for $200.00 I was shocked and started crying as I barely made the saving to purchase this laptop and now this has happend fell llike killing myself it is just a nightmare I can do nothing right sorry for whinning to you but thank u again Anita jo Butcher
