Hello there,

I would like to know will my PC perform good on the 1680x1050 res on ultra/high settings in most games. I'll be also recording at 1280x720 res, will it be enough?

Specs:

MOBO: Asus B85M-E
CPU: Intel i5 4570 Quad Core 3.2GHz (Turbo up to 3.6GHz) 6MB
RAM: G.SKILL 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: Sapphire HD 7790 1GB GDDR5
PSU: SilverStone SST-ST50F 500W
HDD: Western Digital Blue 500GB 7200RPM 6GB/s SATA

Honestly, I wouldn't go with the HD7790 - I'd pick either a 1GB HD7850 or a 2GB one. (since you want to play on High/Ultra settings - and you will also want to play some other games that haven't been released yet - or do you buy a GPU every year?)

Other than that, the system is awesome.

Overall, considering it's a budget gaming configuration, if you don't get the HD7850, I'd rank this system a 8/10.
Why?
No SSD, the GPU is not gonna be that good for gaming, the HDD is a 465GB one.
Go with a better GPU - the HD7790 just isn't made for "ultra/high settings in most games".
Even if you choose to go with your initial configuration, your next upgrades would be:
Improving performance in Windows: SSD
Improving gaming performance: HD7850/next-gen Radeon (they're around the corner, btw)

Nope I don't buy a gpu every year, that would be hilarious. Haha. I usually set my res to 1280x720 so i can record for youtube. Other than that in modern games I don't see any gfx difference other than textures. Which, I think, aren't that demanding to run on ultra like battlefield 3. I would pick the hd 7850 but it goes out of my price range. On the web there isn't any difference so much in price but from my retailer it's more expensive. And that prices in my country aren't even possible.

Wow didn't think that it would get a 8, lol. But I played on a 5 year old pc with a 5450 hd and been happy, hopefully this will be a big improvment. I didn't get a larger hdd cause a have an external one which is usb 3.0, so i can take advantage of that with the usb 3.0 support on the motherboard. I'm not sure, but I'm willing to play games from my external drive, I want my HDD to last long... What do you recommend, taking advantage of the usb 3.0 and gaming on that OR the sata 6GB/s?

Nice, thanks. Maybe I'll be able to get the 7850 with the same setup. But I have taken a look at the 7850 and it has a slower clock speed is it noticable? Is it future proof?

Don't worry about clock speed. The 7850 is a better card than the 7790. In fact, a lower clock speed means there is higher OC potential.

I don't want to OC in the near future, but here's two videos that make me skeptical:

BF3 on 7790: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu-udrS5tek (Look at frames, this is multiplayer)
BF3 on 7850: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su4KbcZ0-_g (Singleplayer, but the 7790 still has better minimum fps)

If you can't get a 2GB HD7850, get a 1GB HD7850. The processing power is considerably higher when compared to the HD7790.
What's the point of getting a slower GPU packing more VRAM if it can't optimally make use of all that VRAM?

Maximum bandwidth for USB 3.0 is 5.0Gbps
Maximum bandwidth for SATA III is 6.0Gpbs
USB 3.1 will get a considerable increase in bandwidth but your motherboard doesn't have USB 3.1 as it's not even out yet, so I'd go with SATA 6Gbps if I were you.

The HD7850 is a HUGE improvement over a low-end HD5450.

HD7850 vs HD5450 - SPECS
Core & Shader Clocks: 860MHz vs 650MHz
Memory Clock: 2400MHz vs 800MHz
Memory Bandwidth: 153GB/s vs 12.8GB/s
Pixel Fill Rate: 27.520 MPixels/s vs 2.600MPixels/s
Texture Fill Rate: 55.040 MTexels/s vs 5.200MTexels/s
Power Usage: around 130W vs around 20W (obviously, more power is needed to make it more powerful)
VRAM Generation: GDDR5 vs GDDR5
Shader Processors: 1024 vs 80
Texture Units: 64 vs 8
Raster Operators: 32 vs 4

The HD5450 was sold as a low-end card. The HD7850 is pretty much mid-range - high-end stuff.[only outperformed by the HD7950 & HD7970(&GHz Ed.) ]

Is this a good edition of the 7850 2gb? http://www.amazon.co.uk/VTX3D-Radeon-Edition-Graphics-Express/dp/B008HZXRKU

Never use youtube for benchmarks. They're often extremely inaccurate.

Of the reviews I've seen, the 7850 performs better in BF3.

Ok, now I want to chooes between these two cards:

HD 7850 2GB by Gigabyte http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4155#ov
OR
HD 7850 2GB by V3TXD http://www.vtx3d.com/products_features.asp?id=122

VTX3D are OK, but I would put my trust in this card:
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/amdhd7850series/gv-r785oc-2gd.html
Avoid any XFX products as I know a lot of people who had problems with them - they are known to be faulty either in the short or long term.
Check this stuff out too:
