So earlier in the week I got a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 670 windforce X3, I was really looking forward to being able o play games in considerably higher settings and FPS than my previous card (the powercolor radeon 7770 pcs+ edition). My old PSU was a 750W ACE with a 6 pin PCI-E cable and enough molex and SATA cables for the 670, so I thought I was pretty much sorted. Apparently not, as the windforce x3 uses almost the same power as a 690 and needs a 6 pin AND an 8 pin! My 750W PSU clearly couldn't handle the power and just went out with a crackle and a pop, I have had issues with PSU's before were they have blown from being over used/loaded but they've never gone with such a noise. I was extremely worried that my new GPU had been damaged, but a quick trip to my local tech store and a new more well optimised PSU( a powercool eXtreme power 80%+ efficiency with 2 6+2 pin PCI-E adapters) I was ready to go home and fix my PC and get gaming! However, after spending at LEAST an hour plugging everything in and triple checking all cables, I loaded up my PC to find that the GPU wasn't outputting any image and the USB ports weren't working either. I would really like to know the issue as I have spent the past 5 hours searching the web and looking for solutions but I'm afraid I can't find anything! Please help, I hope to god that it's not my motherboard that's been damaged and that there is a really obvious thing that I'm missing.
*NOTE* ALL THE FANS ON THE MOTHERBOARD AND THAT ARE CONNECTED TO IT ARE IN FULL WORKING ORDER, BUT THERE IS JUST NO OUTPUT FROM ANYTHING!
Images can be provided if needed, please write back ASAP as I would love to start gaming properly on this system
Thanks,
Charlie
