I have an Asrock extreme 6/ac motherboard and the sound quality out of my speakers doesn't sound as good as it usually would with an ipod or something else connected. I'm not sure if this is how the quality is meant to be or if I need to get a sound card for better quality sound for music.

That's a recent mobo with one of the best integrated sound chips available, so it shouldn't be so bad. Have you installed the proper driver from the ASRock website or is it running from the built-in Windows sound driver?
