Ok, I keep getting system freezes. Using Toshiba Satellite 655 laptop with AMD II and Windows 7 home.

Started out as system freeze with black screen of death (not on start up). Amount of time is random-sometimes happened within a minute or so, sometimes after 10 minutes. Ran full malwarebytes scan, found nothing. Tried AVG scans, couldn't get all the way through it despite multiple attempts. Also tried this from AVG Rescue disk and same issue-couldn't get through more than 70% of scan. ran memory scan from disk and no issues.

Ran CHKDSK /f/r and eventually it got through scan and found nothing. Uninstalled graphics software, still got screen freeze with black screen.

Finally tried just about everything ran recovery to restore to factory. System froze right after partition had been redone.

Had to pull out recovery disks created when laptop was brand new (ran from CD boot). Tried Recovery again-froze again in same place.

Then ran it again with full hard drive wipe and scrub thinking there was a bad partition the CHKDSK didn't pickup. Froze after 90 minutes. Ran it again with lower level wipe and it got through after a couple of hours. Ran recovery again-and it froze (tried a couple more times).

Finally decided the Hard drive was toast and picked up a new one (not a refurb. Ran recovery disks again and-it froze on first disk-twice.

OK, out of ideas, and need to get this thing fixed.

Looking for ideas-BIOS problem? Something else?

Ok, another important detail on the recovery freeze. The farthest I have been able to get is to where recovery days "Loading CRC Files, please wait" .
This seems to be the big hang spot. I sere lots of posts about CRC issues it most are linked to vista and are hard to follow. Sounds like there is a CRC conflict. Any ideas on how to fix this?
