Should I upgrade my CPU?

Hello everyone,

I currently have a Intel pentium E6500, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to that processor. I plan to mostly use my computer for gaming. I know the LGA 775 socket is dead and pretty out of date for gaming, but I have a really limited budget so I can't upgrade my mobo. I have a budget of around $80 if anyone has another CPU for the 775 socket to suggest.

Edit: Sorry if this is the wrong section, if it is could a mod please move my thread to the correct place.

You'll be a lot happier with the 8400 even at stock, make sure your mobo supports it (check the mobo web site) and most 8400s are great OCers, might well be a great investment for the budget

So I should notice a difference when if I upgrade my CPU from my current one to the E8400?

Alright thanks. Also would a stock fan be good for OCing or should I get different fan for it?

Can go with the stock initially, monitor your temps, but will prob want a better one before long

Think I'd want idle to stick to around 43 or under
