I am getting two gtx 460's courtesy of a friend, but I'm not sure if my system can handle having them in SLI. Here is my setup:
Phenom 2 X3 @ 3.4 GHz (oc)
Asus M4A78 plus mobo
500 watt 80 plus bronze Rosewill PSU
8gb DDR2 800 MHz memory by Apacer
Gt 630 2gb GPU @ 840 MHz ( oc)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W (RS-500-PCAR-A3) has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 30 Amps and only one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector. That's grossly insufficient to power a system with two GeForce GTX 460 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode.

There are other worse problems with that PSU though.

ok... so two wont work in SLI. If i were to run them in physx mode will it work, or should i use the gt 630 to stay relatively safe power consumption-wise and sell the extra 460 to, for example, get a new motherboard?

Update: I just got a new motherboard and memory, the MSI 970a-G46 and 4 gb of DDR3 1866 mhz ram (not sure of model yet on ram, it hasn't mailed).
I now will be able to do sli, so my original question-
Will i be able to run two gtx 460's in sli with the 500 watt PSU, or will i need more power?
thanks

For a system using two GeForce GTX 460 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 650 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 37 Amps or greater and that has at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

What specific Rosewill 500 Watt 80 PLUS BRONZE model do you have? At least specify its model number.

I know there is the Rosewill Green Series RG530-S12 and RG530-2 530W models but they don't have the four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors that you will need.

Sorry i mistyped in original... Here is the model i actually have in my computer now : Cooler Master RS-500-PCAR-A3
Taking a closer look at psu it says on it that it has a 431.5 watt max on the 3.3, 5, +12v1 and +12v2.
