hello,
I need help with what power supply to go with? whats modular and non-modular? which brand?
I have i5-4670k, maximus vi hero mobo, corsair venegeance 2x4gb, samsung 840 evo ssd, planning to have evga gtx660 or gtx760 video card. Looking to spend around $100...

Some people use a ps wattage guild and then size a power supply as low as they need. Myself I'm from old school system builder where it better to buy a larger then needed unit. Under gaming stress a power supply can ripple out or drop below atx spec. Causing blue screen or lock ups or black screen on the gpu. Your rig fine with a 650 watt unit. Myself I toss in a 750 watt cosair or seasonice. Give you head room if drop in another card for sli or higher end gpu.

Non modular..just means all the wires are permanent on the power supply so it looks like a large octopuses.modular or simi means non or some of the wires are connected to the power supply. With a modular unit you only have to plug in wires you need to give your rig a cleaner look. Cosair,seasonic two good brands.

I am sorry I wasn't clear with my question...I meant how do u decide how much power do I need? How much power supply will be enough or is it better to have more supply than necessary?
