New GPU blocks SATA port. Used different port, computer will not boot

My new 7950 blocks the SATA port I was originally using for my hard drive (with the OS on it). I plugged my HDD into a different one and my computer will no longer boot; everything seems to be running fine but my monitor remains blank. My motherboard is an MSI 760GM-E51 ( The port I was originally using was the upward facing one (similar to the one pictured here Thoughts?

try to use different cable with 90 degree type or go to bios setting for priority boot
