I recently purchased an asus nvidia gtx 760 for my secondary rig on newegg.
My secondary rig is quite old. But i've been giving it maintenance every time i can.
My system specs are:
Core i7 920
Asus P6T Deluxe v2
12 GB Corsair Dominator
Corsair HX 1000 PSU
I used to have a gtx 260 on that system. And even today it still works properly. That's why i highly believe the video card i bought came broken.
I uninstalled my old drivers, and put the video card on the PCI-E slot. Everything went fine. I install the new drivers and again ,everything worked properly.
Now once i reset my pc and boot again to windows i hear the same sound as a USB memory getting plugged and my monitor went black.
I reset the computer several times and just a couple of seconds after logging in Windows i hear the USB memory sound and then the screen goes black.
So my question is, is it that my hardware is too old to handle the gtx 760 or is the gtx 760 broken?
I have never gotten a broken product through an online purchase, so this is a first for me. I want to be sure
Thanks in advance for the help!
