Hello guys,

I have this issue, i have Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX6700
(8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 8 GB ram, Corsair 240gb SSD and GPU ASUS GTX 760 and my CPU goes 95%+ while playing battlefield 3, and i have nothing running in the background and i have even razer game booster on, i just cant figure out whats taking so much load from my CPU while running BF3, my average CPU load is about 88%-100% which is crazy...

can some tell me how the hell i can fix this issue cause 93%+ cpu load starts affecting my fps and that's freaking annoying.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

also i should mention my cpu load on idle not gaming goes about 0%-4% i also own after market Zalman CPU cooler and it seems to be working just fine.

Solution
your cpu is maxed out, cooling it will not help unless you can also overclock it, however unless you can put a substantial OC on it (+15%) it won't really be worth it, given the age of the mobo, and the cpu i'd suggest that this would be risky and you may kill the board, and need to replace it, so it might be worth selling your cpu and board and buying new. Assuming you are going to invest anything into this system

Code:

Yes on multiplayer, do you think replacing my CPU cooler with an internal water cooling system will help in anyway if i manage to decrease the CPU temp a bit? while gaming my CPU temp goes about as high as around 88c

Good sir, you have a bottle neck.

Your cpu is too damn old. Bf3 is remarkably cpu dependent. I went up 20fps going from a quad core to a hex core myself.

Add suggested, overclock. But your architecture is outdated and inefficient, so as also stated, not going to be a tremendous benefit, but save and buy yourself a fancy new machine!

Unless the CPU overheats and throttles, the temperature doesn't affect performance. In this case, your CPU is simply too old and slow to keep up with a GTX 760 in BF3.

Well i had the same issue with my old Asus GTX 295, so it cant be the GPU

CPU Cooler Corsair Hydro H100i Extreme Performance CPU Cooler
Motherboards for Intel ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 LGA1150, Intel Z87, DDR3 1866, 3xPCI-E, HDMI, DP
Memory Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Asus GTX760 2GB GDDR5 DX11 2xDVI HDMI DP PCI-E
Solid-State Drives (SSD) Corsair Force LS CSSD-F240GBLS-BK 240GB SSD Sata III MLC Retail

No i love this PSU and i wanna be ready for the future i might SLI and even tri SLI, also this PSU is really amazing has many great features..and i dont want to use my old case ill just leave my old PC and run it for extra desktop at home.. so i want everything brand new and this baby should do it.

Wow!!! You got your QX6700 to hit 1010%??? What's your secret? :pt1cable:

Regarding your new rig, I would drop the i7-4770k for the less expensive i5-4670k since games don't really use Hyper Threading (HT). Past performance benchmark have shown that HT causes a 1% - 2% drop in game performance.

I don't like water cooling. I prefer using one of Noctua's massive CPU coolers; can't remember the model #.

In my opinion Seasonic simply manufactures the best PSU, period. For your rig a 1000w PSU is overkill. A GTX 760 can easily run with a 600w PSU even if both the CPU and GPU are overclocked. If you want to spending the extra $$ for a 1000w PSU, then go for it.

Just in case you did not know, SSD only improve load and save times. It will not improve the FPS in games. Of course, if areas on the map takes a very long time to load, then the load times will be much lower. I think a PC can boot up in less than 25 seconds with a SSD.

Less than 25 seconds even. With Windows 8 and a good SSD, you can break 10 seconds if everything's set up right. Win 7 is slower, but you can definitely get down to 15-20 seconds.

I rather stay with the 4770k, its not that much of a price difference so mind as well get the better one, and i got this corsair H100i liquid cooler only because i will be doing some CPU over-clocking to maybe 4.3-4.5 Ghz and this cooler i've read only good reviews about it so far and does an amazing job keeping overclocked CPU's in decent temptratures.

And as for the power supply seasonic i agree with you that they are the best PSU's out there very reliable no doubt, i went for the 1000W only because i might in the near future do SLI with GTX TITANS therefore i should have no problem whatsoever with the PSU not having enough juice :)

H100 will be noisier and warmer than a decent air cooler, it will be lighter however. Read almost any review about the all in one water coolers compared to air and you'll see that they are not very good. I'm OCing a 3570K to 4.3 on medium air, (Xigmatek Achillies) load 60C ish and nearly silent, I could go higher but I don't want to.

hmm i said H100i not H100 these are two different coolers mate, and trust me when i say there is no way you can get to the same temps with your air cooler compared to the H100i's specially overclocked, im sorry but it's just not possible.

1.5C at load: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cooling/49445-corsair-hydro-series-h100i/?page=5

noisier too: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/h100i-elc240-seidon-240m-lq320,3380-12.html

that's hardly a massive win now is it? that's not a definitive, trust me its not possible, difference...

But you want to go for non-maintainable water, its your choice, if you have the money the throw away go custom water, it'll be cooler and quieter and maintainable.

Well i don't wanna go too crazy with the liquid cooking so this will do for now, it's my first time with the liquid cooling and i saw many good reviews on it and whoever has tried it so far is really satisfied and happy.. so hopefully i will be too.

Anyways thanks for your input, i appreciate it :)
