error when installing windows 7

I installed a new hardrive into a laptop when I try to install windows 7 I get this error. When trying to format. windows is unable to install the seleected location error 0x80300024

Normally, this has to do with existing partitions, delete any existing ones at hdd selection screen during install?

das-sting its a plain brand new harddrive. I will try the wd partition utility.

I'm still having troble. I tried installing xbuntu I could load the live cd but it said error when I tried installing the harddrive. The hardrive is found fine in the bio. I tried changing the boot order no luck. Brand new harddrive no other harddrives in there. Any ideas?
