Hi guys and girls.

I hope someone can help me with this as its starting to drive me mad. My wireless dongle died a week or so ago, thought no problem just get another one, which i have done. But problem is i just can't get it to work on my pc! Works fine on my laptop and my primary pc but this one it just doesn't want to know. Its all installed fine but it just won't connect properly, half the time it won't connect at all and the other half of the time it connects but i get no internet whatsoever and usually just get "Resolving host" in the bottom corner and then the page cannot be displayed message.

I've read lots of threads on here and have tried renewing the ip, flushing the DNS, resetting winsock (think it was called that) and even formatted it and reinstalled windows, no dice. I'm just completely out of ideas how i can get this to work anymore, and with the amount of things that seem to be breaking in this house the past week it wont be too long before i give up altogether and take a hammer to the bloody thing.

Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to shed on this.

Adam.

I do not know which windows version you run. I believe from windows xp on up you can copy network settings to a usb stick and use that stick to use the exact same settings on another pc.
I once had a pc which could not connect to a wireless access point, whatever I tried nothing worked. At some point I got the idea to take my fathers laptop and make the connection, this went flawless. I put in the USB stick and let windows copy the connection settings on it. I put the stick in my other pc and let windows load these settings. 5 Seconds later I was running internet from that pc.

Update: On Windows 7 i can click on the network icon on the bottom right tray and open the network centre. From there I choose manage wireless connections and I select the wireless connection. When choosing properties after a right click I get the option to 'copy the network profile to a USB flash station'. If the translations might be off forgive me, I am running the dutch version. (Do this on a pc where the connection works!!! The second step is loading it on the other pc).

Scout, i think you may in fact be correct in saying irs defective. Just put it in my laptop and it's causing the exact same issues. Constantly saying resolving host and won't work properly. I just cant explain why it worked for so long on the laptop earlier. Very confusing.
