Is a single GTX 770 enough for a 144hz monitor? (ASUS VG248QE)

For my own build I'm getting a GTX 770 from EVGA and I was thinking about getting the VG248QE from ASUS. I'm not sure if the 770 will be enough for the 144hz refresh rate? If not, what will happen if I do use the 770 with that monitor? Please help!!

Tearing is what happens when your display doesn't keep up with your graphics card; the display shows part of 2 (or more) frames at the same time on different parts of the screen. VSync is used to remedy this issue, but that will lower your framerate.

Depending on what games you're playing, if you use a 770 with a vg248qe, you may not always be able to get the full benefit of the monitor, but it will certainly be smoother than with a 60Hz monitor, and have less (or no) tearing.

So what would happen if I used my 770 with that monitor? And can you explain tearing?

If you don't want input lag, stuttering or tearing, just grab the new G sync kit for the Asus monitor. As for the GTX 770, its a really good card. If your board has the ability to run 2 of them in SLI, just get another down the road. A pair of 770's is superior to one 780ti and with the Asus monitor and G sync kit, its a KILLER setup that looks incredible.

How about single 780?
