The only things listed under network adapters are: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2, and Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter

OK, when you plug in the network cable what do you see in the network icon in the system tray next to the clock (lower right of the screen?). Does that icon change, and to what? What happens when you launch the browser (which ever you use - IE, Firefox, chrome, etc)

There is no change and it still shows the red x. When I open chrome it says the web page is unavaliable

Are all the lights on the modem and router on? They should indicate that there's an internet connection and that whichever port on the router is used for the PC is connected.

Also, reset the network driver (Realtek GBe..) by right-clicking in the device manager, disabling and re-enabling it. If it doesn't work, try uninstalling the driver entirely, rebooting and re-installing the driver.

Lights on router are on and all green. Disabling and re-enabling didnt work. Also how would I uninstall the driver would I right click and hit uninstall?

If that doesn't work, for troubleshooting purposes I'd ask you to download on another computer Ubuntu, to test whether the network will work in a different OS.

http://www.ubuntu.com/download

Burn image to disk with disk burning software using the option "burn image to disk" and boot the PC with it, and select "Try Ubuntu" and not "Install Ubuntu." This lets you run a "live session" off the DVD. In this Ubuntu, try to go online with the default browser (should be Firefox IIRC). If it works here but not in Windows, you have a problem in Windows.

Doing a system restore to before the internet went out might fix a problem in Windows.
