amd 8320/gtx 770 OR intel 4670k/hd 7970

Solution
The i5 4670k and ati 7970 would be the best choice. The i5 is far faster than any amd. Even the i3 cpus are far faster than any amd. The 7970 is on the list for best graphics cards review.
Just look at benchmarks for an idea of the differences between the choices.

It was bad enough with the 2700 and 3960x but now we have to 4*** to think about as well. God thing were so easy in the Xeon and P4 days

Agreed. And for someone (like me) that still builds with old to new AMDs and Intels both, that also adds to the memory glitches when it comes to remembering model designation.

None of those.

The 8320 is a waste of money. It's essentially a 6300 but 8 cores as opposed to 6 cores. Get the FX6300, NO DIFFERENCE in gaming. The 6300 is only a 5 fps difference between the i5, don't waste your money on "premium" Intel products.

For the GPU, get the 770.

Oh I know and I am not saying that they were any more stable than the newer ones but when some cat rolled up and said yo man what sort of DIMM stick would go best with my P4 and 9500GT card I new exactly what he meant now I need to go and look it up just to make sure I not going to confuse a 1155 and an AM3+ socket type on a UD5 mobo.

You might look at moving down from the 4670K to the i5-3570K same processor really but 100USD cheaper but stick with the intel processors the amd ones cannot compete in real life and in benchmarks as for your GPU I always go with nvida cards even though they can be more expensive they do perform better depends on your budget. What you want to do with the PC are you going to have a HiRes monitor or are you going multi-monitor.
