Got a Lenovo X220 with a single HDD and a single partition that contain both OS and programs/data.

I don't have the original OS installer (ex corporate laptop) so my choice for a cheap update are

- install a small mSATA SSD and in some way clone there only the OS (need some trick I think such as create a new partition on my HD, copy there programs/data, resize the original partition with only the OS and next clone to the new SSD)
- buy a SSHD bigger than my present HD and simply clone the whole HD

I think the second SSHD solution will be the safest one, but I read all the compatible 7mm SSHD from WD, Seagate, Toshiba are 5400rpm models.
My current HD it's a 7200rmp, will I have a real speed increase?

Ok done some search there are in fact tree options:

- SSHD to substitute my HDD, 80$ for a 500GB
- small mSATA SSD as a cache for my HDD such as using Intel Smart Response Technology (SRT), 130$ for a 128GB
- SSD to substitute my HDD, 400$ for a 500GB

Any suggestion?
