Enforced upgrade advice

So my old Asus PT6 Deluxe V2 is dead and needs replacing. Since I'm not doing well getting a replacement 1366 board from ebay at a sensible price, it looks like its time for an upgrade instead of straight replacement.

I'm going to be needing the following bits:

Motherboard
CPU
CPU cooler? (I'm assuming my old Titan Fenrir won't fit more recent sockets)
RAM

It may also be time for an SSD if there's space in the budget (I'll probably want to do a fresh install of Windows anyway). Everthing else from the dead system is fine, its just the core bits need replacing.

Having had the PT6 die on me (and it not being 100% trouble free before that) I'd rather not have another ASUS board. After that I'm open to suggestions (my only other branded motherboard was an ancient ABit KT7-RAID (a great board, but ABit seem to have disapeared)). Features I know I'll be wanting (in no particular order) are:

ATX
4xSATA connectors (more is obviously fine too) (preferably with RAID support)
Front panel audio header (rear sockets too). (I'm assuming nearly all boards have on-board sound these days?)
3xUSB 2.0 headers for front panel devices.
eSata connector (round the back)
reasonable number of USB 3.0/2.0 ports (around the back)
Gigabit ethernet (wired)

I'm not too bothered about extreme overclocking facilities. I'll probably be running things at their rated speeds.

Processor wise I'm looking for a current generation i7.
Cooler - something equivalent to my old Fenrir in terms of performance and noise would be fine.
RAM I'll want a decent chunk of it. 16GB? Doesn't seem worth skimping here at today's prices.

Budget? I tend to build to a spec, not a price (but do avoid the very top end where prices suddenly jump for minimal gain). Call it £1000, which I'm guessing is more than enough.

Supplier preference? Again I'm flexible, I've used all of www.scan.co.uk, www.dabs.com, www.novatech.co.uk and www.amazon.co.uk in the past. I'd prefer to get everything from one place though.

System is to be a generalist workhorse. Some gaming. Some photo editing. Maybe some software dev or video processing too.

Sorry this is all a bit vague and clueless. I'd normally spend ages researching a new system myself, but with my main system dead I'd appreciate some advice from those with more familiarity wth current components to speed that process up...
