Hello all and thank you in advance for your insight. I am working on my first ground up build and am running into a brick wall. I have been trying to install Windows 8 Pro onto my SSD. I have the BIOS set to boot from the DVD-ROM first. The blue Windows icon will appear on the screen and stays for about 1.5 to 2 minutes then the computer restarts. I'm not getting any error lights on my mobo. I have stripped the build down to the bare essentials and still get the same results. I double checked the Sabertooth manual and verified that the RAM I use is compatible with it. I have tried all 4 sticks of RAM, one at a time to reduce the potential of a bad stick. I've tried to use 2 SSD's and 1 HDD at seperate times so I'm pretty sure the issue isn't with them. I'm kinda stuck and would greatly appreciate a bit of wisdom on this matter. Thanks again in advance.

Ok, I burned the ISO for Ubuntu and ran into the same restart problem. Still trying to troubleshoot.

ok I tried alexoiu's suggestions and received the same results. I decided to do a complete tear down and rebuild it in breadboard again. The computer finally makes it into the Windows install screen, but I'm having another issue with the install. Windows says that neither of my hard drives are correctly partitioned and that it cannot partition them. Is there a way for me to fix this through the CMD window? Any other ways that I can fix this would be great as well. Thanks again.

After some looking around, I found the site www.pcsupport.about.com. It had some good walkthroughs that helped me to format and remove the partitions from my drives. After that, the windows 8 install went normally. I still don't know for certain what the original issue was, but the tear down and rebuild seemed to correct it.

My build is:
Case: Coolermaster HAF-X
CPU: Intel i5-3570K (have not OC'd it yet)
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth z77
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB
PSU: Corsair GS-800 800w

Hi, Try connecting the DVD drive and the SSD to SATA 2 ports (black), for ruling out a SATA cable issue. Disconnect all other components.
If still the same, you can try making a bootable USB drive, copying the files on it and installing from USB (connected to a USB 2.0 port).
