I have a acer 5749 which came pre-installed with win 7 - bit OS. After numerous problems with the os, ebuyer who I bought it off, done something to my system during a 3rd failed repair. The acer has come back to me with a 32 bit - win 7 installed. No back up available, no acer recovery system installed , nothing. A couple of basic programs is all that is on it.
If the original win 7 bit on the bios is pre-installed when first made, can I still access these settings to upgrade again to 64 bit?

Changing from 32 bit to 64 bit requires a clean new install.
But... you can activate using the original activation code which should be on a label on the pc.
If you don't have the label, run a program called magic jelly bean keyfinder to find it.
You will have to download or borrow a 64 bit dvd to do the reinstall.

Hi Geo.
Thanks for the reply to my question. I will see if the Acer will let me change back to the original 64bit. I do have another query concerning what you said in regards to sourcing a 64bit dvd. " Do you mean OS - 64bit disc, or just ??????

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
