Server I am trying to build:
MB: Asus P8B-X
CPU: Intel E3 1230v2
RAM: 3x 8GB Hynix R1216289I (PC3 10600R) HMT31GR7BFR4C

One long
two short
Cannot detect any RAM installed

1. Try re-installing the RAM module.
2. Try installing the RAM module onto other DIMM slots.
3. Clean the golden finger on the RAM module with white eraser, and
clean the memory slot with soft brash, then install the memory back
onto the slot.
4. Please replace your memory module

5. Consult the manual on how and where the memory needs to be populated in the memory slots, for single ch mode, dual ch mode or Tri ch mode if supported.

Memory Type :
DDR3, 1066/1333/1600, UDIMM, with ECC
Memory Size :
1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB UDIMM

Your part number corresponds to Registered memory which is not supported. UDIMM means UNBUFFERED. ECC is short for Error-Correcting Code memory. You need both ECC and Unbuffered memory.

For example:
Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1333 MT/s (PC3-10600) CL9 Unbuffered ECC
