I was wondering, can I install my coral graphics software and gimp, on an ssd safety, i hear there is a limit on read and writes, but would an ssd last about as long as a hdd in gereral?
You will have no endurance problems.
Samsung has a utility that will display remaining life.
I doubt that it will budge off 100% for years.
The big value in a ssd is not boot time; it is everything else that you do.
Even simple web browsing does hard drive accesses. Opening files is instant.
Put everything you can on the ssd. Only very large files such as video's and backups should be on the separate hard drive.
And... I rarely boot. I use sleep to ram(s3, no hibernate). The power draw is miniscule. Sleep and resume take about 3 seconds each.
In normal, or even heavy desktop use,(vs. server) a SSD will be obsolete long before it runs out of updates. 10 years?
You can protect from this if your SSD is larger. Also, if you are really worried, the Samsung PRO has more endurance.

Thank you for the response, I have a 250 GB samsung evo, and thought about installing coral graphics as well as gimp 3d and just saving my work in a dump drive. The main reason I got the ssd was for faster booting and was hoping to get these programs up faster, not just start my computer, would there be any major problems with this, Heck if the ssd last's a couple years (saving work in dump drive of course, I understand gb limitations) I'd be fine. Just wanted to see about endurance level for two or three years of just moderate daily read and writes, it not used for work.

Thank you for your time, that's exactly what I needed to know, installed my programs in and it did not even make a dent in the drive pretty much. I'll just use the hdd as a dump and back up as stated.
