Ok im sure this is a dumb question, but how do you get a HD to be recognized by the OS in windows 7? Just put together a computer build for my father. I havent done one in a long time, and for this one i used a SSD drive and HD combo. Thing is i cant seem to get the regular HD to show up in windows. I tried just going back to the windows install disk but any attempt to get it formatted there tries to put a windows partition on it instead. I just want the whole drive there for storage.

I think theres a way to just do it in windows but i dont remember. Can anyone fill me in? The drive works and is there. I can do a full scan on it in HD tune, but windows doesn't list it.

Open Windows Explorer, right click Computer, select Manage. Then select Storage – Disk Management. You should be able to see your hdd there. Right click on the drive and create a partition and later format it.
