Hi All,

Just bought a GTX 770 a couple of days back and was testing Crysis here.

At Maxed out settings in the Welcome to the Jungle part (searching for the weapons cache) i get only an average of 30 FPS whilst looking and running around. The strange thing is that i get an average of 34 FPS even when i set the System Spec to LOW (with Textures at very high).

These are my System Specs:

Intel i5 3570K - 3.4 GHZ (stock speed)
Intel DH67BL Motherboard
4 Gigs of RAM (1333 MHZ with 2 in DIMM)
Zotac Geforce GTX 770 overclocked to Core: 1160, Memory: 1900

I've been testing a few other games here like Metro LL and The Witcher 2, and i seem to get solid frame Rates here (although Metro LL does go down to 36 FPS in intensive sections of the game).

Is my CPU the bottleneck here?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks!

Ive never played crysis 3 but i think welcome to the jungle is that mission where there is that bridge you cross in the rain. That is the MOST Intensive part of the entire game and cripples GPus. Your CPU cant bottleneck anything ( minus 3 way sli titans) any GPu struggles in that area, after that it should be much better. However if it persists it may be a driver issue or something like that.

Thanks! I do agree with you and the others as well that it's kinda normal for Crysis 3; however, i've lowered the resolution to 1600x900, set the Graphic details to LOW (leaving the textures at Very High) and yet the Frame rate hovers around 34. This gets me thinking that perhaps the GPU is not the bottleneck but something else?

I have actually turned off AA but it made no difference. Irrespective of how low i push the settings, the frame rate does not go above 34 FPS in the wide open area of Welcome to the Jungle. I've gone through many Forums(and youtube videos) but strangely not many people speak about the FPS in the open area of WTJ. I'm not entirely convinced to be honest that this is normal behavior of the card because of several other articles such as:
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_770_windforce_review,18.html

I have a feeling that it may be an issue with my CPU because the frame rate doesn't increase even after reducing the quality. Does anyone else feel that as well?

I've tried that as well, but no luck. Still between 25 -35 FPS.

Take a look at this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL8CvyuzqdE. This guy's got a GTX 680 and his Frame rate never dips below 40 FPS. For me my frame rate barely ever reaches 50 FPS over here and is always in the 30 FPS range. I do agree that he has an i7 980 @ 4 GHZ, but this is really weird. Many sites and Forums say that this area (WTTJ) is much less demanding than the others in the game but it's clearly the opposite for me.

try to turn off the v sync i get 50 to 80 fbs when i turn it off when its on its tapped 60 fbs in dark places and tapped 30 fbs in light places and i have a 280x not a gtx 770 i thought that that the gtx 770 was better than the 280x but it seems to be the other way around
