Sorry for posting almost the same question as my predecessors but I have problem with internal dedicated sound card.

When I turn the volume up on the speakers there is really annoying, permanent noise, easily hearable during games or movies.

Here are the other interesting facts:
- the noise starts AFTER Windows startup (nothing during BIOS bootup)
- no matter what I plug in (headphones, another speakers) the noise stays the same
- I have tried to switch the card to a different slot, no help
- the onboard audio is OK, no noise
- I turned off all inputs to the card (eg. microphone, aux, etc.)
- it started suddenly (i mean from hw perspective), before there was no problem whatsoever

Thank you for help,

Yeah Ive tried everything I found on forums.. I think the problem might be with video card interference. I tried two cards same result. Also have cleaned it with pressured gas.

Doesnt really matter, the noise isnt that bad, only clearly apparent with a volume very high.. Seems I just need to deal with that

is the sound still as prominent when windows output is turned down to half and you increase the volume on your speakers?

if the hissing mostly disappears its a pre amp problem, if its still the same then its the DAC on the soundcard.

also test the card in another machine if the sound is still as prominent with windows set to 50% just to check its not an interface issue.

if the card gives you the option in its control panel set one of the other surround ports to output the front stereo channels and connect the speakers to said port, if there is no hiss then its the pre amp on the stereo port or the port itself has a problem, if its still there then its the DAC.

The noise isnt affected by windows volume control at all. Even if I mute output sound in windows control panel, the hissing stays. Strange thing is that in BIOS theres no nois untill windows starts up.

The card doesnt give me much options regarding its setup unfortunately.

Thing is, the noise is totally different in games.

Tbh its not very loud and its easily covered by game sound. I think Ill just stick to onboard audio till I get option to test the card on another system..

I spent days trying to fix this very issue. I'm a sound engineer and I record on occasion so the buzzing was KILLING me. I also game at night and it was coming over my mic.

Noise gates didn't always work since it kept auto-gaining the thing even when SVN and automatic gain options were turned off on everything.

I ended up using a small USB mixer to avoid the mic input (it's a preamp problem in the card).

For the headset I went to the Xonar controller and clicked on hammer icon next to the Analog Out dropdown box and changed the ohm settings to 32 (VOIP). Sure, some headsets might be fine with a higher ohm setting, but it seems like the card itself has an issue with it since I own all professional headsets for monitoring my mix live during shows.

I hope this might help a bit to anyone who might stumble on this forum like I did.
