So my friend gave me his notebook and asked me to install clean Win7. I came home and got to work. I put my USB with Win7 64bit in and clicked custom. I got to the part where i formated the HDD and then it reported that "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate and existing system partition..."
I have tried several things:
- Tried to install on deleted partition (so that windows could make one)
- Tried to install on created partiton through CMD (diskpart, list disk, format, and so on...)
- Tried to install several different versions of Windows (Windows ultimate, Windows Home Pro, I searched for specific OEM windows)
- Tried the same Windows (all of them) through DVD installation
- Tried to install a backup from different notebook (same manufacturer)
- Went on official Asus support page and searched for clues
- Tried to flash BIOS and figured out that latest version was already installed
- Tried to connect his HDD to my PC and install it (It worked until I pluged his HDD back into notebook) Then I tried to somehow "FIX" it on his PC and to no succes
- Tried to install it over now once again existing windows installation but still get the same error "System was unable to create a new system partition..."

Note that neither I or he has the installation discs or the recovery discs...
When I got the computer it was under a password and I didn't want to "SPY".
All the windows I have are pirated (sorry) but I had to try somehow
He does have and original code on the bottom of the notebook and I would very much like to install it using that
The OEM windows I have are original (I got them off a site that claimed that they were unalterd) and are not pirated but it still didn't work.
I have never before tried to install windows on a notebook/laptop and have no clue what is supposed to be different from that of a normal PC (other than that that its not working)

I am very sorry if my English is bad or hard to understand.

Nothing has worked
Specs:
Asus N53SN (B3N0AS438357128)
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
GeForce GT550M Cuda 2GB
Intel i7 - 2630QM 2GHz

I hope someone can help me

The reason why you cannot format or partition the drive is down to the interface used.

In the bios of the laptop look at the settings mode for the hard drive.
If the option is set to sata then a driver needs to be pre loaded before windows setup gets to the point of asking what drive you wish to install to, format or create a partition.
I presume you do not have a driver disk for the laptop.

So.

To enable the drive so windows can format it and create partitions the hard drive mode in the bios must be set to Ahci mode.
Set Ahci mode save before exiting the bios.
Run the windows installation disk, it should then format and partition the drive with no problems.

A small note about the licence key being rubbed off the sticker.
If the previous version of windows 7 loaded and worked.

You could of used a key extractor to retrieve the licence key of windows.
You would of obtained the original legit licence key to active windows on the machine.
If that problem ever happens.

Before trying to wipe the drive and install a fresh copy.
A few good tips for you there.

Yes I do, but it was a quick and easy solution because I already had them.
I did try to find other windows that are legal but all I could find were with SP1 and either x15 or x17 versions. I dont know if that matters but the sticker on the notebook says x16 and a bunch of other digits. direct search for those digits never found anything so I let the matter drop :/

As for the solution that "Shaun o" written, I found the settings for AHCI mode and changed it from IDE to AHCI and there were no change.
The problem is that for some reason it doesn't detect DVD I burned and cannot boot it from DVD. I have to use USB.

Only thing it did do (the change to AHCI) is that now, before i chose anything, when windows loads files it tells me that it needs CD/DVD drivers and I can't seem to find proper ones. I did find a site that has drivers but when I check under CD Rom, or CD-RW or DVD-ROM/RW drivers, there are a lot of drivers and don't know which one to chose.
