Hello everyone,

I was just having a game on my PC when all of a sudden my computer froze, and when I rebooted there were blue/green vertical lines all over my screen and the resolution was stuck at 800x600. When I ran dxdiag and checked the display settings there was no information about my 8800GTS (yes, I know I was already looking for an upgrade). When I rebooted again somehow the boot order changed and I had to manually change the boot order back into the right order so it booted off my SSD (don't know how/why that changed). Anyways, I have a Asus P5E motherboard and I don't know whether it's my videocard or my motherboard that is fried. Can anyone help me out? If it is my videocard does anyone have suggestions for a decent gaming videocard for around the 120 pounds.

Thanks in advance,

Fons

Before you go and throw either your motherboard or GPU out, could you just do one thing? Go to Device Manager->Display Adapter->blah blah 8800 GTS->right-click->Properties

Roll back the display drivers if possible. Chances are Microsoft decided that its drivers are better than Nvidia's and updated them. Happened once with my laptop.

P.S Not just you. I have ATI Mobility Radeon 3400

Thanks for the quick response,

When I open device manager I can see a little error icon next to the 8800GTS, under device status it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

I also cannot roll back the drivers, the option is grey'ed out.

Thanks for the tip though,
