hi all

when i play battlefield bc2 and bf3 my frames drop when i look at the part of the map where the action happens. i have gtx 660 and I5 3570k both at stock. example; when i stand on the side of the map and i look at the part where nothing happens i get 100fps and when i look at the part where the action happens, even if its far away my fps drop

Action scenes where there are lots of debris or other moving objects will lower framerate. Since there is more information changing in the frames, the GPU has to continually change what it is rendering. Looking out to the background is much easier, because there is less data changing at any given time. If you're getting stutter when you switch from low action to action frames...

If you're getting stutter when you switch from low action to action frames, try enabling VSYNC, it will cap your framerates but provide a smoother overall gameplay experience.

I can't speak for bc2, but I used to have a 66oti OC edition, and if I had AA turned up I would lose a great deal of FPS because of the smaller memory bus. Does it drop from 100 to unplayable, or just down to a more normal 40-60 fps? I know I could get 150+ when nothing was going on but max settings on that card would drop substantially even with only a few extra things going on on screen. I'd suggest Turning AA down if you have it set high. Also obviously make sure your drivers are up to date, although I'd figure with it being a bit older games any of the last few driver releases should be ok.
