Hi Guys!

I'm buying a Galaxy GTX 770 HOF soon! I'm just curious what the boost frequency means. I understand that GPU Boost 2.0 will OC the card when needed and appropriate temperatures can be maintained, but is the boost the limit to that? The card has 3 fans so I figured if their weren't a limit, I could get a lot of extra performance out of it.

I'd like to avoid overclocking in the BIOS on anything except the CPU, at least for a while.

Thanks!

Solution
The boost frequency is the maximum it will overclock itself. So you will get some extra performance, but not a huge amount. This will be the same for any card that is overclocked or has the boost feature. In general you won't get huge amounts of gain from OC your GPU.

Is there an option where you can set a temp. limit so the card will OC itself under load until it reaches the designated temperature?

There probably is, but whatever Nvidia has set as the predetermined temp will be well within the safe limits.

Yeah, I think they've set GPU Boost 2.0 to keep it within reasonable temperatures.

Thank you very much for your responses!
