Hey guys, I want to buy the new FX 6300 CPU, and I have a old GA-M68MT-S2 motherboard. It says I need to flash my bios in order to accept new AM3+ Cpu's. [Which is fine, I can do this]

But I am curious if my FX 6300 CPU will be running at 100% speed? The FSB says on GA-M68MT-S2 website it only supports: Hyper Transport Bus 2000 MT/s

I am going to buy a 7850 as well to upgrade from my gtx 460.

Thanks in advance.... :)

(You can view the motherboard specs here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3645#sp)

Solution
Having a speed of 2000 MT/s will slow you down, but I would just buy a new AM3+ motherboard.

I cannot tell you by how much you will be slowed down, as it varies in different cases.

Hi Cars, I looked at their CPU Support list and I cant even find the FX 6300... It's either I risk it and try it, or don't buy a new motherboard and save me 59$. I have no idea why they wouldn't support it, it's 95W..

I'm sure it might work, but your right. I think i'll be getting this for now:

I heard good reviews of this board ocing the total crap out of the FX 6300 to 4.X ++ :)
(yes I am on a budget, I know it;s not the best of boards)

But yeah..... Thanks I guess >_>
