DVD-ROM drive SATA Compatibility Question

The specs for the DVD-ROM drive i'm looking at only say SATA

my motherboard is SATA lll so will the DVD-ROM work?

  1. It will work. SATA is backwards compatible. Just slower.
  2. I think it should be compatabile, you just wouldnt get sata 3 speed from the dvd drive. Although from what I hear the dvd drive won't ever really go that fast anyway. If the dvd drive is fairly old then maybe check for board bios or drive firmware updates if things don't work out, but the sata should work with sta.
  3. it will work in sata but your motherboard link bring a psu page .
