I recently installed a WD Green 1tb hdd and it is recognized by the motherboard, but when I go to my computer it just isn't there. I have windows 8 and I think this might be a common problem so please help me.
have you restarted the PC since the installation of the drive? I assume you have. It should be showing in disk management if it is detected by the sytem and added in the device manager.
Did you make sure Windows installed the proper drivers for the drive? In device manager you can make windows search Windows update system to find the driver if it has one.
is it shown in computer management? if so did you format it or even label the drive? Label meaning assign a letter.
If you mean is it shown in device manager, then yes, but I did not format the drive or label it. Could you guide me into doing that? I'm kinda dumb when it comes to those things
If this was Win 7 I would be able to help more but Win 8 is still so new to me that I'm not sure how to get around this. Hopefully some one else will have the answer for you. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
