I am deciding on which of these two motherboards to get.

I've never had an Asus motherboard but have had many Gigabyte. I plan on lightly overclocking, nothing extreme and just want a solid motherboard that can be relied on to last a long time.

I know everyone says Asus is top dog but that Gigabyte is also up there with it so for my needs, which are mainly just gaming, daily usage, schoolwork, movie watching, etc, is it worth the extra almost $100 for the Maximus Formula or is the UD5H still a very good board?

Thanks!

Maximus VI Formula , Asus are on top for making motherboards .Its has Best Audio SupermeFX ever

Quality+solid+customer support = ASUS
With Gigabyte Z87 UD5 u wont get Bluetooth support , if you need bluetooth .

Maximus VI Hero is Also good motherboard , it will fit your needs

Thanks for the suggestion, also what does ROG armor do if you know?
I see that the Formula has ROG armor but is it just for looks or does it have some purpose?

ROG armor is for cooling durability , CrossChill you can add water cooling for ur mobo with ROG armor .

http://rog.asus.com/tag/armor/

EDIT : Maximus VI Formula has an upgraded hybrid thermal CrossChill, along with enhanced SupremeFX ( damn best awesome audio !! ) and beastly looking double-sided ROG Armor

Thanks, and also on the Formula, it has a 4 pin power connector and also an 8 pin power connector. Do both of these need to be plugged in at the same time? I've never seen this on a motherboard.

well you can plug 4 pin power connector in 8 pin connector , they both of these don't need to be plugged at same time . Its depended on ur power supply & cpu cooler . with that 8 pin you can power good cpu cooler .

P.S. - don't forget to close the thread once you got ur answer .
