can you use a 3 pin fan on a 4 pin PWM fan header on motherboard

Yes it's possible, maybe you will need to set the cpu fan header from automatic to advanced to support voltage control, but it will work

It wont anyway....4 pin doesn't necessarily mean PWM .... at least according to Asus regarding their Maximus VI Formula, non but the COU_1 and CPU_2 headers are PWM ,,,, the others are all 4 pin but not PWM.
