Its done it a few times now, nothing to do with cpu overclock as it happened at stock speeds cpu, the gpu has no overclock to it other than a factory boost, ill start up the pc, then after going into windows everything will lock up the curser the loading windows etc a second in and a buzzing sort of noise will come from the speakers, anyone have a clue if its a faulty gpu?

IM running:

Msi z87-gd65 motherboard

8gb (2x4) avexir mpower RAM

MSI gtx 760 2gb GPU

Have you tried updating the MB BIOS yet?

i tried but when i open it up it just says something along the lines of my computer isn't up to running it, i don't know how to install it :/, for the other updates you just click on application in file menu and it starts off, but the bios one doesent want to work.

The new BIOS comes as a ZIP file: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z87-GD65-GAMING.html#download Did you un-zip the file first?

To flash the BIOS, D/L the .ZIP BIOS file and un-zip it. Copy the un-zipped file to a USB flash drive. Start your computer and go into the BIOS. Look for "M-FLASH" option on the main BIOS screen. Select M-FLASH with your mouse. You will be asked to select between BIOS only flash or "BIOS + ME" (Intel Management Engine). Choose BIOS + ME. The M-Flash program will ask you for where the new BIOS file is located. Point it to the USB flash drive. Select OK and let it rip! After about 50% complete, the computer will shut off for what seems like an eternity. Just be patient and it will automatically reboot and finish the flash. It will give you a finished message when done and you can restart the computer. Restart the computer and go update the driver for Intel ME.

thanks :D, will it delete my overclocks and settings or will it still know ssd is boot drive etc?

Great question! I forgot the last and very important step: After the BIOS flash has completed, press the "Clear CMOS" button on your MB to clear all settings. Then restart the computer, enter the BIOS and find the option to "Load Optimized Defaults". This will reset all settings to factory defaults. You will then have to re-enter your accessories boot order and any OC data.

says clear cmos while system is off otherwise itll damage the mobo, so i click it to clear for say three seconds, then put it back to keep data and turn it on? :) Sorry i just don't want to bust my new build, its been up and running for about a week now and its awesome lol

Yes, the system must be OFF while you clear CMOS. I would give it 5-10 sec. then turn it on and go into BIOS and load "optimized Defaults". Set your boot order and add OC data.

you dont have to be insecure by clearing cmos .... thats a normal process when we have a problem with pc
but i dont thing you need to upgrade your bios...above all its a new motherboard
what kind of psu you have?
do you have a stock cooler on your cpu?
your pc case have a good ventilation system???
